Everything You NEED To Know About The New DVC Cabins Coming to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

The Disney Vacation Club offerings are growing and they’re not showing any signs of stopping soon!

Over the past few years, we’ve seen DVC expand at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and a GIANT new DVC building is currently in the works at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Plus, a new DVC tower at the Disneyland Hotel is set to begin sales soon and is marked for an opening date in the fall. But, that’s not all — Disney has announced plans to transform an underrated Disney World hotel into new DVC property!

The Disney Vacation Club recently revealed that Disney will be refurbishing the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds to become the next DVC property at Disney World! The proposed plans include renovations to the 350+ cabins that are currently available at the Disney Resort updating furniture and decor, and adding newer energy-efficient features.

So, what can you expect from the cabin refresh? Here’s what we know so far.

The Cabins

According to Disney, the DVC cabins will be built “utilizing the footprint of the existing cabins,” so we can expect that these will be replacing all of the cabins that already exist at the resort and they likely will be about the same when it comes to size.

When it comes to the layout, each stand-alone cabin will offer nearly identical features to what they have currently at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort with a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio. All this space makes it possible to sleep up to 6 adults and the DVC cabins will maintain that.

So, if Disney is using the same cabins and offering the same set-up, what’s really going to be different? The design, of course! Disney shared that the “design concepts offer a fresh take on the current cabin experience and are inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling.”

FAQ

Will the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness still be pet friendly?

Yes…for the most part! Disney stated that “a select number of cabins are also expected to be dog-friendly.”

Do you have to be a Disney Vacation Club Member to book the new cabins?

No! All Disney Vacation Club Resorts in Disney World and Disneyland can be booked with cash by non-DVC members (or DVC members who do not want to use points). Keep in mind that Disney hotels like this can book up during busier times of the year and DVC members usually get access to early bookings for DVC resorts.
