REVIEW: Barcelona Lounge at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

If you can’t start your morning without a coffee, you’re in good company at Disney World.

There are so many places to find a cup of joe in the hotels and parks. But, a really good cup of coffee? Well, you might have to look a little harder for that in the Disney World hotels. Most resorts offer drip coffee in their Quick Service locations, but a few hotels actually have coffee shops! For example, there’s Le Petit Cafe at Disney’s Riviera Resort (which is one of our favorites!), Carousel Coffee at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, and Contemporary Grounds at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Oh, and we can’t forget Barcelona Lounge inside the Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort because that’s where we’re headed today!

Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

The Gran Destino Tower is a newer addition to Disney’s Coronado Springs bringing luxury accommodations to the Moderate Resort. When it comes to securing some caffeine, there are a few different spots to grab your fix, but there’s only ONE place we recommend going — Barcelona Lounge.

Gran Destino Tower Lobby

Barcelona Lounge is located on the ground floor of the Gran Destino Tower and it can often be overlooked. DON’T be one of those people! Not only is the coffee bar eye-catching, but it also serves up some of the most authentic Mexican specialty coffees you’ll find in Disney World! And, in the afternoon it turns into a full-service bar.

Coffee and a cocktail? What more could we ask for?

Barcelona Lounge

We recently stayed at Disney’s Coronado Springs and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try some of the morning offerings. So, did Barcelona Lounge stand up to some of our other favorite coffee spots in Disney World? Let’s see!

Barcelona Lounge inside the Gran Destino Tower

We’re starting off with the sweetest drink that we tried — the Cafe Bombon! Known for its popularity in Spain, the Cafe Bombon is made with sweetened condensed milk and espresso and is traditionally served in a clear glass cup. We opted for the iced version of the drink here, but if you order it hot and enjoy your coffee at the bar, it will be served in a glass.

The drink is meant to be stirred and the result is a creamy, sweet espresso drink that is sure to prepare you for a full day in the park. Costing $3.49, we enjoyed it so much that we ended up coming back for seconds. If you’re someone who likes a sweet coffee drink, you’ll for sure want to give this one a try!

We also tried another coffee that’s popular in Spain — Cafe Con Leche! It is made with equal parts espresso and milk and costs $4.29.

If you’ve never had a Cafe Con Leche before, it’s very similar to a latte without any sugary syrup. So, there’s some sweetness from the milk, but it’s a much more mild drink in that area compared to the Cafe Bombon.

And, if you believe that the last place you should find milk is in your coffee, there’s still something for you at Barcelona Lounge! The Iced Cold Brew is a special Artisan Roasted Joffrey’s Coffee at this location. It’s not the best coffee we’ve had in Disney World, but it does the job for only $4.79.

Whether you’re grabbing a coffee for the road or planning to sit down and enjoy the stunning Gran Destino Tower lobby, the great thing about Barcelona Lounge is that a lot of guests don’t even know it’s there! We stopped by every morning of our trip and there was virtually no line. This means that you can skip the long lines at the Quick Service spots at Coronado Springs AND get a better coffee — a win, win!

So, be sure to check this spot out during your next stay! And, stay tuned to The VacationEAR for more of the latest Disney hotel food reviews and updates!
