Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter is one of Disney’s Moderate Resorts located in the Disney Springs Resort Area. The hotel is themed to immerse you in a small historic French Quarter town in New Orleans. From the cobblestone streets to wrought-iron balconies, every detail has been carefully crafted to transport you to the heart of the Big Easy. It’s also just a short walk away from its sister hotel, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is the only place in Disney World where you can order up these delicious fluffy treats and they come in all different flavors, including seasonal and boozy ones!

Room Types

Before we look at the types of rooms available, a welcome feature in all the rooms is a separate sink area from the shower/toilet area. This is helpful when 4 people are trying to get ready quickly for an early morning in the parks. Other amenities include a mini-fridge and free Internet-WIFI.

Standard View – This room sleeps up to 4 adults and includes 2 queen beds. Don’t plan on spectacular views if you’re choosing this room option though, as your room will face one of the resort’s parking areas.

The standard room is best for those who don’t plan on spending too much time in their room other than to sleep.

Garden View – This room sleeps up to 4 adults and has 2 queen beds. You’ll have a guaranteed view of the resort’s garden areas, which include flowers and shrubs native to New Orleans.

The garden view room is best for those who are looking for a quieter room with a nicer view and don’t mind a brief walk to the hotel amenities.

River View – This room sleeps up to 4 adults on 2 queen beds, and you will have a guaranteed riverfront view.

The river view room is best for those who are looking for a quieter room with a nice view. You’ll likely get to see and hear some of the Disney boats passing by throughout the day (they usually operate one hour before Disney Springs opens and one hour after Disney Springs closes). Keep in mind that these rooms are the most expensive rooms to book in the resort.

King Bed – This room sleeps up to 2 adults and has 1 king bed. You can select a view of the garden, courtyard, riverfront, or parking area. If you have a preference, be sure to indicate that when you check-in, and the cast member will see what view might be available for you.

A king room is best for those who aren’t traveling with kids and want to soak in some extra bed space.

Pool View – This room sleeps up to 4 adults and includes 2 queen beds. You’ll have a guaranteed view of the resort pool.

The pool view room is best for those who plan to spend some time at the pool during their trip and want to have easy access. However, keep in mind that the pool can be noisy during the day and evenings up until closing time. The pool view rooms also have quick access to the hotel lobby, bus stop, and dining.

Where To Eat

Quick Service

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory — Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory is the biggest Quick Service location at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter and can be found in the main building. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and features traditional American eats like chicken fingers and burgers. Of course, you can also try some New Orlean’s inspired eats here too including jambalaya and gumbo.

Scat Cat’s Club – Café — This little cafe is a great place to stop for a coffee, tea, or treat. And, the best part is Mickey-shaped beignets offered every day of the year!

Lounges & Bars

Scat Cat’s Club – Lounge — Scat Cat’s Club is a lounge that features live jazz music and a selection of drinks and snacks (including Mickey Beignets!). The atmosphere is inspired by the vibrant culture of New Orleans, making it a unique and enjoyable spot to relax and unwind after long days in the parks. Live entertainment is featured at the Lounge on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with performances usually starting at 7:30 PM. The live music and diverse menu options make it a great choice for a pre-dinner drink or a casual evening out.

Mardi Grogs — Mardi Grogs is the best spot to take a break from the pool and grab a drink or snack. It is located right next to the Doubloon Lagoon pool and is home to a wide variety of signature cocktails, frozen drinks, sangria, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and a full menu of quick snacks.

Things To Do

  • Pools – Doubloon Lagoon is the main pool at Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter. It features a 51-foot snaking water slide that drops riders into the lagoon, a whirlpool spa for relaxing, and the Doubloon Lagoon Water Play area which is a specially designed play area for children under 48”. Guests can also visit the neighboring resort, Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside to take a swim at Ol’ Man Island pool which has a 95″ waterslide.
  • Campfire Activities — available 7 days a week from 5:30PM to 6:30PM at the firepit between buildings 5 & 6.
  • Movies Under The Stars – available Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 7:30PM between buildings 5 & 6.
  • Fishing – O’Man Island features a catch-and-release fishing hole for a fee.
  • Bike Rentals — available for a fee
  • Surrey Rentals and Horse-drawn carriage rides – available for a fee and are located at the neighboring resort Port Orleans – Riverside.

Jackson Square Gifts & Desires —  Jackson Square Gifts & Desires is the only gift shop at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter and is located in the main building. Here you can find a variety of Disney merchandise including shirts, Minnie Ears, plushes, and toys, along with some toiletries and groceries. So, if you find that you forgot something at home (or just want to do some shopping), this is the place to go!

Transportation Options

  • Disney Boat — Transportation to Disney Springs.
  • Disney Bus — Transportation to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Water Parks. In the event that boats are not running, bus transportation will also be available to and from Disney Springs.

Disney Vacation Club

Disney Vacation Club is not available at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter. All guest rooms are standard.

Overnight Parking Fee

Overnight self-parking is free for guests staying at any Disney World Resort hotel.

Pros

  • Queen beds in all the rooms are a big plus for those wanting a little extra sleeping space in the bed. Extra space = taking on the park day well rested!
  • It’s easy to get to Disney Springs thanks to the complimentary Disney boat transportation. This means that you’ll have access to even more delicious restaurants and shopping a short boat ride away!
  • Mickey Beignets! Need we say more?

Cons

  • It can be a jaunt to the bus stop depending on where your hotel room is located. This holds true for accessing the restaurants, gift shop, and pools as well.
  • French Quarter and Riverside share a bus to the Disney parks during slower times, such as the afternoons. This can add some travel time to your day.
  • Only standard rooms that sleep up to 4 are available at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter which may be an issue if you are traveling with a large family.
