MAJOR Update On Housekeeping at Disney World Hotels

It’s been a long road back to “normal” since Disney World reopened in 2020 after its temporary closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

And, while face masks are no longer required and physical distancing is a thing of the past, there are still ways that your Disney World vacation experience isn’t the same as it used to be. One of the biggest impacts that guests staying at Disney hotels have faced is irregular housekeeping services, but Disney just shared a BIG update on what’s coming soon!

Disney’s Riviera Resort

Over the past year, Disney has made some subtle changes to housekeeping at select hotels behind-the-scenes. For example, daily housekeeping had returned to most Disney Deluxe Resorts by the end of last year. But, now it won’t matter where you’re staying — Disney has shared that FULL housekeeping room cleanings will return to all Disney World hotels by the end of February!

Depending on the hotel you’re staying at, you will receive the full room cleaning daily or every other day.

Now, what exactly is the big change here and why is it such a big deal? Well, when the parks and resorts reopened, housekeeping was completing an “enhanced room cleaning” before you checked in and then only entering every other day to remove any trash from the trash cans and replace towels during your stay.

However, with full room cleanings returning, housekeeping will once again replace your towels, replenish your soaps and shampoos, clean the bathroom, make the beds, empty all the trash, tidy up the room, and vacuum. Plus, that extra Disney magic is returning and you may come back to an extra surprise from housekeeping, like a towel in the shape of a Mickey head on your bed!

Disney has not shared the list of hotels that will receive daily housekeeping services versus every-other-day service. So, be sure to check with the front desk when you check in to confirm the schedule.

Of course, you will still have the option to forego daily (or every other day) housekeeping services. You can do this by opting out of housekeeping when you check in for your stay or placing the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door when you head out for the parks.

So, how does it feel to know that you won’t have to make your own bed when you’re on vacation in Disney World anymore? Pretty great, right!? Of course, we’ll be keeping an eye out for any other updates at Disney hotels, so stay tuned to The VacationEAR for the latest!
